The Keppel Group participated in Earth Hour on 28 March 2009, a global initiative by the World Wide Fund by turning off non-essential lights for an hour from 8.30pm to 9.30pm.

Over at Keppel Seghers Ulu Pandan NEWater Plant, with non-essential lights switched off for one hour, the wastewater recycling plant appeared deserted, belying the round-the-clock operations that tirelessly produce clean drinking water.

Earth Hour posters were placed prominently on noticeboards, while electronic memos were sent out to remind KIE’s staff about the event and what they could do to play a part.
