Reinforcing the Group’s focus on safety, the second Keppel Group Safety Convention, held on 16 September 2008 at SPRING Singapore’s auditorium, saw an impressive turnout of over 500 Keppelites and external guests. The theme “Safety Starts With Me” was strongly advocated and endorsed by the group’s management and safety champions, as well as Keppelites who have in one way or another taken on the role to advocate safety.

This year, all Keppelites were encouraged to submit a Safety Innovation Project (SIP) as part of the Chairman Safety Challenge. A SIP contributed up to 30% of the total marks for the Challenge. The remaining 70% were allocated based on the safety initiatives rolled out by the respective SBUs.

A gold recipient team from Keppel Integrated Engineering (KIE) shared their creative project on “Cable Laying Vehicle”, which was used on the newly opened Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway.
