SINGAPORE, 25 March 2009 - Keppel Seghers Belgium N.V. (Keppel Seghers), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Keppel Integrated Engineering Limited (KIE), has secured an €14.45 million (approximately S$30 million) contract to provide technology and services to a waste-to-energy plant (WTE) in Jinan, Shandong Province, China. The contract was awarded by Riseland Holdings, a subsidiary of Everbright International.

When completed in 2011, the plant will be able to treat 2,000 tonnes of municipal waste per day, making it one of the largest WTE plants in China.

Keppel Seghers will provide its equipment design and technical services for the furnace, boiler and flue gas cleaning components of plant. Its technology will enable the plant to have longer continuous operation, high waste throughput, and high steam production for power generation.

Mr Chua Chee Wui, Chief Executive Officer, KIE, said, “This is the fifth time that Keppel has received the vote of confidence from Everbright since our first partnership in 2004.

“This affirms the strength, reliability and cost-effectiveness of Keppel’s WTE technology which meets the needs of our partners and customers.”

KIE is currently the market leader for imported waste-to-energy solutions in China, with 60% of the market.

The above-mentioned contract is not expected to have material impact on the net tangible assets or earnings per share of Keppel Corporation Limited for the current financial year.
