Keppel FMO wins S$26.3m contract to maintain Republic Polytechnic’s eco-friendly campus
Keppel FMO Pte Ltd (Keppel FMO), a wholly owned subsidiary of Keppel Integrated Engineering (KIE), has been awarded a S$26.3m maintenance contract by Republic Polytechnic (RP).
Keppel FMO will provide integrated facility management and maintenance services for all building equipment and systems in its new 20-hectares Woodlands campus. In addition, Keppel FMO will provide laboratory operation and technical support services for the academic schools.
Keppel FMO expects to deploy up to 150 facilities and laboratory professionals at RP for the next three years, with the option to renew for another two years. Keppel FMO has been managing RP’s campus since 2003 when the polytechnic was then located at Tanglin.

“The Republic Polytechnic campus is more environmentally-friendly and resource efficient. This demands a stringent maintenance regime and we have continued the partnership with Keppel FMO as they have proven to be able to meet the high standards required of this new campus,” said Mr Lim Tuan Seng, Director, Office of Estate at RP.
Earlier this year, Keppel FMO was also awarded a maintenance services contract with the Institute of Mental Health (IMH), another repeat customer in the healthcare sector. Including IMH, Keppel FMO now manages seven hospitals in Singapore, with a total bed capacity in excess of 7,000. Six of these hospitals are Joint Commission International (JCI) accredited.
Keppel FMO's eco-friendly maintenance services are in line with Keppel Group's commitment towards developing environmentally-friendly and “green” features in Group’s businesses. KIE's subsidiary, Keppel Seghers, was recently awarded a contract to design, build and operate the largest wastewater treatment and water reuse facility in Qatar. This is in addition to the Qatar integrated solid waste management contract it was awarded in late 2006.
The abovementioned is not expected to have any material impact on the net tangible assets or earnings per share of Keppel Corporation for the current financial year.
